“I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy.” -Tagore
Service has been a core value of Higher Running since the very beginning. When we can lend a helping hand, we try to do so. Below are the current ways we’ve been giving back. We know it’s not enough and we’re committed to doing more in the future.
Throughout the year we raise money for a variety of organizations. In 2020 alone we used our training plans as a way to raise money for Girls on the Run, The American Red Cross, The United Way, and WIRES (NSW Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service Inc.).
We all know that running can be a tool used for health and healing and that having a community that supports us on our journey can make all the difference. This is why Higher Running offers free training plans to every member of Team Herren Project. The Herren Project’s daily mission is to support, inspire and empower those affected by substance use disorder. Check out https://herrenproject.org/ for more information on all of the amazing things that the Herren Project does to support people on the journies.
Since 2015 Higher Running has been a proud member of 1% for the Planet. This means that at least 1% of all Higher Running proceeds goes to helping the planet. In recent years, part of our 1% donation has gone directly to SOS Outreach, an organization that uses the outdoors to help kids thrive “no matter what social, societal, or economic barriers exist.”
