Coach Ray Nypaver
Trail & Road · Beginner to Intermediate
Coach Ray is a free-spirit who prefers not to be identified by labels but rather by the light she brings to the world and others. In coaching, Ray enjoys being a guide to athletes (re: people who run) and helping them remember how to listen to their hearts and bodies in order to allow for their potential to unfold. She coaches with structured flexibility rather than control, love and joy rather than fear. Ray has learned that clinging on to past achievements can be just as detrimental as hanging on to past “failures”, yet also respects that it helps to have some tangibility of a person-spirit when seeking out a coach or running advice. With that, Coach Ray considers one of her most important jobs as being the kahu (guardian) of our Pawsitivity Coach Pacer! She is Lydiard II certified and has been coaching with Higher Running since 2016. Ray also holds a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (with a concentration in Transpersonal Wilderness Therapy) from Naropa University in Boulder, CO. Ray is grateful to have been part of several journeys of clients/friends that included PRs, podium finishes, and more importantly, deeper understanding of self. Her “why” in running is to “expand my capacity to feel joy.”
In addition to run coaching, Ray also offers Embodied Sports & Life coaching sessions to help athletes and creatives uncover their blocks to peak performance and holds a certification in EMDR Performance Coaching.
